Our World
Visit Leimert Park is your guide to the cultural soul of South Los Angeles. A neighborhood that has been the heartbeat of Black art, music, and enterprise for generations. Known as "the Black Greenwich Village," Leimert Park is where drum circles fill the air on Sundays, artists open their doors to the street, and every storefront tells a story.
This guide is curated by Black Women Vend, a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to uplifting the vendors, artists, and small businesses that give the Village its spirit. Led by neighbors who have called this community home since 1992, we built this site to help visitors and locals alike experience Leimert Park the way we know it...authentic, welcoming, and alive.

In the Heart of South LA
Easy to reach, impossible to forget
Leimert Park sits at the crossroads of the Crenshaw District, just minutes from Downtown LA and easily reached by car or the Metro K Line. At its center is Leimert Park Village — a walkable cluster of galleries, shops, eateries, and gathering spaces radiating out from Leimert Plaza Park. Come for a Sunday drum circle, browse the weekend African Marketplace, catch live music, or simply wander. Everything is just steps away.

What makes it special
A Village Like No Other
Where culture, commerce, and community meet
What makes Leimert Park unforgettable isn't any single landmark. It's the feeling. It's the rhythm of the drums, the colors of the marketplace, the aroma of food from across the diaspora, and the warmth of a community that welcomes everyone.
As a cornerstone of California's first Black Cultural Arts District, the Village honors its legacy while writing its next chapter. Come see why this small corner of Los Angeles holds such a big place in the culture.
